Welcoming Dan Nicolai and Hector Saldivar to the CFA Team

We’re excited to announce two powerful additions to the Climate Finance Action team: Dan Nicolai and Hector Saldivar. Each brings a wealth of experience in organizing, labor advocacy, and advancing social and economic justice that will strengthen our mission and amplify our impact.

Dan Nicolai joins us as an Organizer, bringing over 14 years of union and community organizing experience. Dan has been a driving force behind campaigns with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 32BJ in New England, winning crucial gains for workers in security, janitorial, and aviation services. Most recently, he helped launch a groundbreaking organizing effort for rideshare drivers in Massachusetts that secured the nation’s first pathway to collective bargaining for Uber and Lyft workers.

From his early days with ACORN to leading environmental and workplace justice initiatives nationwide, Dan’s deep commitment to worker-centered climate solutions will be invaluable as we continue to align public capital with the needs of workers and communities. He holds degrees from Macalester College and the Harvard Kennedy School and grew up in a proud union family in southern Minnesota.

Also joining CFA is Hector Saldivar, a seasoned labor organizer and strategist with nearly two decades of experience championing worker power, immigrant rights, and social justice. Hector’s career spans leadership roles with the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor and the California Labor Federation, where he directed landmark political and organizing campaigns—from mobilizing against anti-union initiatives to leading the largest anti-Walmart civil disobedience action in history.

Hector has trained and developed hundreds of organizers and worker leaders, fostering new union drives and strengthening labor movements across Southern California. Most recently, Hector served as Workforce Economic Development, Organizing, and Training Director at UFCW Local 1428, where he built organizing committees and secured vital grants for worker education. In 2025, Hector launched his own strategic consulting practice focused on worker-led powerbuilding, bringing a rich toolbox of skills and decades of grassroots experience to CFA.

Dan and Hector’s expertise in union organizing, political advocacy, and strategic campaign leadership will accelerate our efforts to build a climate-resilient future that centers workers, communities, and the planet.

Please join us in welcoming Dan and Hector to the CFA team. We can’t wait for you to work alongside them in the fight for an ethical, climate-resilient future.
