Thank you for taking the time to work through this course. The fact that you are here, that you spent time with these ideas, these stories, and these tools, is itself an act of commitment to the work.
Organizing is about building power. And storytelling is the thread that weaves individual experiences into a movement. The stories you have heard in this course, are not exceptions. They are what happens when workers decide their experience matters and their voice deserves to be heard.
You have a story. It connects to others. And together, those stories can inspire action, win campaigns, and create change.
Next steps:
Download the Storytelling Reflection Worksheet, a one-page tool to help you begin drafting and sharing your story.
Explore CFA's Investing in Our Future Guide to connect your story to pension power.
Book a workshop with Climate Finance Action to bring storytelling training to your local.
Before you close this page, take a moment with this question: What is one conversation you are going to have this week because of what you heard in this conversation, and who are you going to have it with?
A Note from CFA
When we first started talking about storytelling and organizing together, we were not entirely sure where the conversation would go. What we discovered, and what we hope you felt throughout the conversation, is that these two worlds are not as separate as they might seem.
The organizer sitting in a hotel cafeteria in California, homesick and missing her grandmother's soup, and the investor standing in a Home Depot parking lot watching an ecosystem that never shows up in a financial report, were both doing the same thing. Getting closer to the truth. Listening for the story underneath the story.
That is what we hope you take from this. Not a formula or a framework, but a practice. The practice of listening. Of sharing. Of finding the thread that connects your experience to someone else's and following it until it becomes something larger than either of you.
The work is not easy. But it is already happening, in union halls and break rooms and boardrooms and pension board meetings across the country. You are part of that.
Keep showing up. Keep telling the truth. Keep listening.
