We have high expectations for corporate America

Awareness and understanding of the term “ESG” is fairly low in the US, according to the newly released ESG Monitor report. Nearly two-thirds of Americans haven’t heard of ESG at all. If you haven’t, ESG is a framework that measures a company's impact on:

  • Environmental – a company's impact on the planet.

  • Social – the impact an organization has on people, including staff, customers and the larger community.

  • Governance – how transparently a company is governed.

Regardless of whether they are familiar with ESG or not, the majority of Americans are interested in companies behaving like good citizens and considering their impacts on other people and the planet.

Within ESG, Americans prioritize climate and cost of living issues. Check out the full ESG Monitor report for more polling and information on ESG.

At Climate Finance Action, we are working alongside a coalition of responsible investors and stakeholders to fight for the majority of us who believe that ESG reporting is crucial so that investors can accurately understand and evaluate a company’s policies, priorities and impact on their communities and the world.
